CavinKare started out as a small partnership firm, with a single product offering, in 1983. With a young entrepreneur, C.K. Ranganathan at the helm, CavinKare is emerging into a successful, and company having a turnover of over Rs.263 crores.

In line with the company’s progressive outlook, it was re-christened from Beauty Cosmetics to CavinKare in November 1998.

Today, CavinKare has established a firm foothold in the national market. The CavinKare Ability Awards
A disability isn't necessarily a handicap. What is
handicapping is one's attitude towards disability.
CavinKare, along with Ability Foundation, an NGO
working to integrate persons with disabilities into
mainstream society have instituted the CavinKare
Ability Awards to celebrate the exemplary spirit of
a rare breed of individuals who have risen above
their disabilities and displayed that Attitude is Everything.
The CavinKare Ability Awards, a total of three awards, is given annually to salute personal triumphs, the extraordinary spirit of achievement and a looking beyond one's own self and physical limitations.
The CavinKare Ability Award For Eminence
This is a single award comprising a citation, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000, to be awarded in recognition of exemplary achievement and service by a person with disability who has, in the process, changed the destiny of others and influenced others' lives. This award is for a pathfinder, a person who has been of service to others.
The CavinKare Ability Mastery Awards
There are two awards comprising a citation, a memento and cash prize of Rs.50,000 each, to be awarded in recognition of exemplary personal achievement of a person with disability. These awards are in recognition of the individual's mastery in any field like Arts, Science, Technology, Health, Sports and Education etc.
Winners of CavinKare Ability Awards - Year 2003
1. CavinKare Ability Award for Eminence: Naseema Mohammed Amin Hurzuk, Kohlapur a paraplegic, in recognition of her contribution to the disabled community through her NGO 'helpers of the handicapped'.
2. CavinKare Ability Mastery Award: Buse Gowda, Bangalore, for his mastery in classical dance despite being visually handicapped.
3. CavinKare Ability Mastery Award: Pradeep Singha, Mumbai, a deaf-blind person who is a trained masseuse and an Editor at the Braille Press.
